Essential Alvor

Portimão Retail Center
We have recently acquired a number of new supermarkets in the Alvor area.
The Portimão Retail Center is a well-located shopping hub just a short drive from the city centre and nearby beaches. Covering roughly 12,000 m² and featuring around 9 to 10 shops, plus a restaurant, this centre is known for its easy access, generous parking (~425 spots), and thoughtfully designed, wood-accented architecture bathed in natural light. For the English amongst you guys, The Food Co is an English supermarket, featuring all English products from English sliced bread to Back Bacon.

Useful Tips
-
Payment: Both Lidl and Aldi accept cards (including foreign Visa/MasterCard) and contactless payments.
-
Parking: Free and usually easy, though weekends can get busy.

Eco-conscious shopping: Bring your own bags; Portugal charges for plastic ones.
-
Local produce: Both chains support regional suppliers — you’ll often find Algarve oranges, wines, cheeses, and pastries in their Portuguese ranges.

Final Thoughts
The Portimão Retail Center shines as a compact, accessible, and convenient destination—convenient if you’re staying nearby or need everyday shopping with a touch of British familiarity. The well-thought-out design, combined with quick access and free parking, makes it ideal for quick shopping or errands. Also as it’s within walking distance of Aqua Portimão, it is well worth a visit.

In the picture above, we show the store called: "Casa". Casa was a Belgian furniture and homewares store, they went bankrupt in September 2025 and stopped trading, closing 13 major stores in Portugal.
