Essential Alvor

Desert:
Doce de Bolacha
Doce de Bolacha is a beloved Portuguese dessert made from layers of crisp Maria biscuits and sweet, whipped cream. Irresistibly comforting.
As it chills, the cookies soften to a cake-like texture, blending with the creamy filling for a rich yet delicate treat. Often finished with a dusting of cinnamon or toasted almonds, this no-bake dessert is simple, nostalgic, and irresistibly comforting.
Ingredients (for 6 portions)
-
1 pack (7 oz / 200 g) Maria or Digestive biscuits
-
2 cups heavy cream
-
1 can (14 oz / 400 g) sweetened condensed milk
Optional toppings:
Ground cinnamon, toasted almonds, toasted coconut, or passion fruit pulp

Directions
-
Crush the biscuits into fine crumbs (use a food processor or a rolling pin).
-
Whip the cream until soft peaks form.
-
Add the condensed milk and continue beating until thick and creamy.
-
Layer the dessert:
-
In a large dish or small cups, alternate layers of cream and biscuit crumbs.
-
Finish with a layer of cream on top.
-
-
Chill for at least 4 hours (or overnight) until the biscuits soften.
-
Before serving, garnish with cinnamon, nuts, coconut, or passion fruit.

✅ Tips
-
The longer it chills, the creamier and more cake-like it becomes.
-
For a twist, drizzle a bit of coffee or liqueur over the biscuit crumbs before layering.
